I’m honored to share with you my experience and feelings of watching the live Tokyo Olympic Games this summer. Motivated by the Olympic motto “Faster, Higher, Stronger”, athletes throughout the world gathered together this July, devoting themselves to achieving sporting excellence. What inspired me most was the fighting spirit of Chinese players, all sparing no effort to win glory for our country. I propose that we all learn from these heroes. As students, we should not only study harder, but also perfect our characters to contribute to our motherland. Thank you! 第二节读后续写(满分25 分) A possible version : Month ended and exam started, but the question papers seemed very easy to her. It had not happened to her ever before. All thanks to Mr. Dodo, she could remember all the lessons she taught him. Everyone got surprised when the result was declared. She got third rank in the class. Even she found it hard to believe. Mr. Dodo had become a good friend of her. Anayah wrote him all her secrets. Now she did his tasks very eagerly and Mr. Dodo did the same with her wishes. With Anayah’s next birthday coming that night, her father stepped into the room, and started writing in the diary. “Dear Anayah, happy birthday once again. I will be with you forever but not like that I have been so far. I will be at inactive state, not even able to reply you back. But you can fulfill your own wish by yourself. Actually you have been doing it already. Every task I gave you had a lesson hidden within it. Your successful accomplishment of the tasks led you to learn the lessons which made your wish fulfilled easily. Now it’s my time to leave. Goodbye.” Text 1 M: Where’s Tony? He usually goes swimming on Mondays, doesn’t he? W: Usually. But he has to pick up his parents from the airport tonight. Text 2 M: What’s all this water doing here? You overthrew the basin again or you’re washing the floor? W: I just did some washing. I think it’s the broken washing machine. Text 3 M: Where do you want to go now? I’d like to get some shoes. W: No, I’m tired. Why don’t we sit down? There’s a new cafe on the first floor. M: What about that new place on the third floor? It’s got good music. Text 4 M: I can’t work out this math problem. Have you done it? W: Yeah, and I wasn’t at all bothered. Text 5 M: Todd’s coming home from college this weekend. W: Oh, that will be nice! What are you going to do? M: Well, we’ll probably watch a movie on Friday night. There’s a great new movie out. And then Saturday we will play golf together. W: Sounds like a great weekend! Text 6 M: Welcome to our programme. Let’s find out what you eat. W: Well, I can eat pretty much anything. I eat convenience food quite a lot and quite a lot of microwave foods, that kind of thing. It’s not terribly healthy, but I suppose convenience for me is the main thing. M: So what do you like eating? W: I enjoy all sorts of food except nuts. I particularly like sweet foods. Chocolate is my favorite. I don’t seem to put on weight too much, so that’s OK. M: Great. Text 7 W: Did you hear about that guy who broke into a student’s home the other day? M: No. What happened? W: There were no alarms and it was quite easy for him to get in, but he didn’t realize that she was at home. She was an art student and she managed to sketch him without him knowing. M: Did he take anything? W: Not much, but when she took the sketch down to the police station, they recognized himimmediately. He’d committed several crimes and was known to the police. M: He wasn’t dangerous, was he? W: No, he’d never been charged for a violent crime, but she was frightened while she was drawing him in her house. She can’t have known he wasn’t violent at the time, of course. Text 8 M: We’re back on the street for the “Ask the People” section of our show. Today our question is “What values do you think are the most important and why?” Now, I just have to find some people who are willing to talk to me … W: Ouch! M: I’m sorry. I … I didn’t see you standing there behind me. Are you OK? W: You stepped on my toes. What are you doing standing here, anyway? M: Well. I’m Randy Simmons from WBBQ. Do you have a moment to talk with us? W: I’m on my way to the hospital. M: This should just take a moment. What values do you think are most important in today’s society? W: Privacy. I think people need to respect each other’s privacy. Like right now. You should leave me alone. You should respect … M: Uh … Oh. Well, sorry. Text 9 W: Well, have you got a job yet? M: No way, but I’ve been trying. I made an appointment to see this Mr. Bean guy at 3 o’clock on a Monday in February. He’s the manager of a big company. W: And did you see him? M: No, his secretary called me in the morning to cancel the appointment. Apparently he’d had a car accident. W: What a pity! M: Anyway, I made another appointment to see him at the end of February. W: Great! M: No, not so great. When I got to his office he wasn’t there. His secretary told me his grandmother had died at 2 o’clock in the morning and suggested I rescheduled for something in March. W: And did you? M: Yeah, I made an appointment to see him on Monday March 5th. W: That was yesterday! M: Yeah, and I actually saw the guy this time. W: And did he give you a job? M: No, he told me all the positions had been filled in February. W: Oh, no! Text 10 W: Tina and I got on very well at university. When we first met, we became good friends straightaway and we ended up sharing a house for nearly three years. We had the same attitude to the important things in life and the only thing we argued about was the housework. I’m very tidy whereas Tina’s the opposite. When I left university, I moved to London and got a job in a finance company. I have to work long hours and I don’t really enjoy what I’m doing but I earn a very good salary. I’m very ambitious and I want to get to the top of my profession. Tina’s working really hard as well, but she’s not earning much. I don’t understand why she’s doing it. I think she’s having a holiday — it seems very idealistic to me. Anyway, it means that our lifestyles are very different now so we’ve drifted apart. We still talk on the phone and when I go down to visit her, we have a laugh. I know she’ll always be there for me.
