W:I'll say I would be in shock. Text 5 W:We will have a party on Friday evening. Come and join us. M:Come and say that to those piles of homework. Text 6 M:Hi, Mary. W:Hi, Michael. Are you going to play basketball now? I saw you playing basketball almost every morning during the winter holiday. M:Right. You know I will play in the basketball game between Class Two and our class next Saturday. W:You mean between Class Three and Class Two? M:Yes. Will you come and cheer us on? W:Of course I will. What time? M:At 2:30 pm. W:OK. I want to watch the first basketball game of our school this semester. M:I hope our team will win. I must go to practice. Bye. W:Bye. Text 7 M:Mary, I am here! W:Oh, hi! I'm sorry I'm late. The car wouldn't start again, so I had to come by taxi. M:Oh, no. What do you think is the matter with your car? W:Well, it wouldn't start at all. I mean, I turned the key and nothing happened. So I guess it's something wrong with the electrical system. M:Well, let's forget about it now, and order our food. What would you like? The fish is good. Text 8 W:Good morning, sir. M:Good morning. I wonder if you can help me. I've lost my coat. W:Where did you lose it, sir? M:Er... I left it on the... umm... underground yesterday morning. W:Can you describe it? M:Well, it's a fulllength brown coat with a check pattern on it. It's a very nice coat, actually. W:Umm, I'm afraid we haven't got anything like that, sir. Sorry. M:Well, to tell you the truth, I lost another coat last week on the bus. It's grey, with big black buttons. W:Sorry, sir, nothing like that. M:Umm. And then only this morning I left my white coat in a park. It's a silk... W:Look, sir. I'm a busy woman. If you really need a coat, there's a good secondhand clothes shop just round the corner... Text 9 M:Today I'm going to study an American poet, writer and musician, Carl Sandburg. Have you heard of him? W:Yeah, he was from Illinois. M:Right. Do you know when Carl entered the first grade, he asked to be called by the name, “Charlie”? W:Why? M:He thought it sounded more like an American name. He dropped out of school at the end of the eighth grade and went to work to help support the family. But he wanted to travel. In 1896 he traveled to Chicago. Later, Carl traveled through Iowa, Missouri and Colorado. Then his travel took him to Wisconsin where he met his wife. She encouraged him to use his former name of “Carl” in his writings. Now I'm sure you have heard of European children's stories ... W:Like Jack and the Beanstalk and Tom Thumb? M:Those are good examples. Carl read some of them to his daughters who could not understand stories of kings, queens, or talking animals. So he wanted to write American children's stories, something with tall modern buildings or trains. W:I think most American children could understand stories about trains or tall buildings. W:During his lifetime, Carl won three Pulitzer Prizes, two for his poetry and one for his Biography of Abraham Lincoln. He is a man of many talents. Text 10 I am honored to be here to present you Bentley College. Two clear features of Bentley are powerful resources and a personal touch that make Bentley College the best choice for students who are interested in business. As the largest business school in New England, Bentley offers stateoftheart teaching facilities and labs, which are very competitive against those at other nationally known universities. But we haven't lost the personal touch. The campus community is lively and closeknit, with accessible professors, small classes and others. All of our resources are dedicated to providing the most advanced business education possible. In fact, Bentley was one of the first colleges in the US to require students to have personal computers. Today, the Mobile Computing Program puts a computer into every student's hands on the opening day. Information technology is only one part of the picture, though. Bentley students also develop wellrounded skills in analytical thinking, creative problem solving, and effective communication. Bentley has one of the lowest facultystudent ratios of 1 to 16. Professors are accessible, devoted to excellent teaching and advising as well as pursuing research and scholarship in their field. Many have significant experience in the business world. If you have any questions, I will be staying here for a minute or two to deal with any concerns you have. 根据第四段中“Born in 1906 in Germany, Maria GoeppertMayer moved to the (北京)股份有限公司 US with her husband, a chemist Joseph Edward Mayer, in 1930... she shared the 1963 Nobel Prize for Physics” (北京)股份有限公司 可知,Maria GoeppertMayer 1906 年出生于德国,1930 年随丈夫,化学家Joseph Edward Mayer 移居美 国…… 根据Dorothy Crowfoot Hodgkin 部分中的“Her work on mapping vitamin B12 earned her the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1964.” 25.答案B 思路点拨根据第二段中“of not caring about anything and concluding that everything would work out in the end.
