I am writing to apply for the position as a volunteer in the nucleic acid testing on weekends. To begin with, I am good in health and always ready to help others. Equipped with fluent Chinese and English, I am sure I would have no problem communicating with foreign friends and help maintain the order on site. Besides, my experience of being the IT assistant for our school’ s television station enables me to deal with electronic devices skillfully, which I think may contribute a lot to the information collection process. I would appreciate it if you could take me into consideration. If accepted, I will definitely work wholeheartedly and play my part in the battle against the virus! Yours faithfully, Li Hua 附:听力原文 Text 1 M: Hello. This is Michael Thatcher. I’d like to arrange an appointment to see Mr Fox, please. Just for a routine check-up. W: Would June 28 suit you? M: Not really. The end of the month is always very busy at work. W: So how about July 3rd? M: Sorry. I will go to New Zealand to meet a lawyer that day. W: Never mind. July 8th then? M: Let me check my diary ... W: Just a moment. A student just canceled his appointment with Dr Fox on June 12, so you could come then if you wanted. M: That sounds great, I think. Let me ... Oh, no. I have to attend a graduation that day. W: So July 8th? M: You know what? Let’s do it at the end of June as you originally suggested. Busy or not, I’ll manage to come. W: OK. Questions: 1. Why does the man call? 2. What does the man plan to do on July 3rd? 3. When will he see Mr Fox probably? Text 2 W: When you were little, what did you want to be? M: When I was 5, I wanted to a spaceman, mainly because most of my toys were spaceships, I think. But at around the age of 6, I decided that I wanted to join the army. W: Why the army? M: Well, maybe it was because my toys changed from spaceships to tanks! But I think it was mainly because my uncle was in the army and he used to come around to our house quite often and tell stories to my parents. I thought it sounded fun. What about you? What did you want to be when you were young? W: I wanted to be a shopkeeper for quite a while. Like you, I think it was related to how I used to play. My sister and I used to set up shops. We’d sell any things we found lying around the house, and then visit each other’s shops and buy things with pretend money. Of course, we weren’t really buying and selling stuff. It was just for fun. M: Well, neither of us joined the army or became shopkeepers, did we? Questions: 4. How old was the man when he wanted to be a spaceman? 5. What was the main reason why the man wanted to join the army? 6. What did the woman and her sister use to do? Text 3 I’m phoning with a message for Conrad. I’ve got some details here about three jobs that you might be interested in. The first one is for Star Summer Camps, based in the South-West of England. They are looking for activity instructors to work with children aged 5-15. The money is not bad --- from £220 to £260 per week. Candidates with musical ability are preferred. If you prefer physical work, the second one would be a good choice. Gowrie farms in the North-East of Scotland required hard-working fruit pickers for the summer. They provide medical insurance, holiday pay and accommodation and the pay is from £5 to £8 per hour. Now the third one is in Edinburgh. Travotel Hotels are offering £535 per month for a hotel reception assistant. The duties include answering the phone, helping customers, and assisting senior receptionist. The hotel is open 24 hours, so you may be asked to work at night, and overtime is also available. To apply for any of the jobs above you can visit our website. Questions: 7. What kind of talent are the Star Summer Camps looking for? 8. Where is the farm job? 9. What is the monthly salary for a hotel reception assistant? 10. What can the applicants do to apply for these jobs?
